Our History

In 1983 Kerikeri Village Trust was founded as a not for profit community venture between Presbyterian Support Northern, the Murray-Graveson Trust and the Auckland Methodist Mission.

Generous bequests from Kerikeri residents Mr Herbert Murray and Mr Jock Graveson enabled the purchase of the first blocks of land with construction of the first cottages completed in September 26th 1986.

The Care Facility opened in April 1991 and the 30 rooms were soon full.

Ongoing assistance from the Presbyterian Support Northern Services and Auckland Methodist Mission has allowed for the purchase of further land and over the years the Village has grown considerably. Today it encompasses around 15 acres of land and the Care Facility, including a specialist Dementia Unit, and provides support for almost 70 vulnerable elderly. We now have 21 studio apartments and 70 cottages which provide an enjoyable, independent lifestyle for our many active retirees.

In 2018 we restructured to become Kerikeri Retirement Village Limited. We continue to be aligned with Presbyterian Support Services and receive some government funding but to an extent we are still very reliant on the generosity of our local community.
