Kerikeri Village

Donate in your Will

A bequest is a thoughtful way to support a cause close to your heart. After you have provided for your family and friends, a bequest to Kerikeri Retirement Village can be your lasting legacy.

You’ll be helping to improve the comfort of the elderly who have helped to shape our local community. Your gift is a way to keep giving beyond your lifetime and will help us to provide those extra luxuries that make life just that little bit better. Even the smallest amount will make a big difference and will bring pleasure to people who have worked hard all their lives and are now reliant on others for their care.

There are lots of ways to bequeath your estate for instance after providing for your family, you might choose to leave a percentage, or the residue of your estate, to the Kerikeri Retirement Village.

Or you might like to honour the memory of a loved one, or yourself, by making a significant gift to the Kerikeri Retirement Village through a trust.

And it’s worth knowing that a charitable gift made during your lifetime is not subject to gift duty and you are entitled to a third back as a tax credit.

Naming Kerikeri Retirement Village in your Will is easy. We recommend you seek advice from a solicitor and you may just be able to add a codicil or amendment instead of making a whole new Will.

Or, have a word with the Northland Community Foundation. This is a Charitable Trust created by and for the people of Northland to provide a simple, effective and long-lasting way for you to give to local causes now and in the future, through a mix of endowment funds and carefully chosen projects.

Our aim is to provide all our Care patients with spacious en suite rooms. These will all have outdoor access and will be large enough to accommodate an increasing level of care as the patient ages. This allows the appropriate level of care to come to the patient’s bedside, rather than constantly shifting the patient.

This represents the latest thinking in aged-care accommodation and is so much better for the patient’s comfort, peace of mind and, importantly, dignity. But it’s expensive. Which is why we’re asking anyone who plans to leave a bequest to consider leaving it for our care wing upgrade.

We are not like the big, multinational retirement living developers. We are a community organisation, run by our community for our community. All the money we earn, or are given, goes into running and maintaining our Village, operating the existing care facilities, or growing to meet future need.

September is Wills month in New Zealand, it serves to bring awareness around the importance of having a Will in place, and we are doing our part to support this. You can read all about it here.

Bequests can be ear-marked specifically for the Village’s Care Facility. So, if you’re planning to leave a bequest please consider our care wing upgrade. Have a chat with the Northland Community Foundation – they’ll be delighted to help you make it happen.

If you would like to discuss including us in your Will please email our Fundraising Manager Adele Woodward or call her on 0272575314 for a no-obligation confidential chat.
